Welcome to the 591th Digital Photography Review newsletter. We're well into the final run-in to Christmas, here at DPReview towers. We are torn between looking back across the year, planning for CES in January and trying to put the finishing touches on the the content we're still aiming to publish this year. So there's plenty on the site now and more to look forward to before we get too demob happy. Canon PowerShot G5 X Review The big Canons are not the only cameras we've been working with, of late. Jeff Keller has been shooting, testing and comparing the Canon PowerShot G5 X - the company's third 1"-type enthusiast compact and the one whose specs most closely match the latest Sony RX100 series models. How does the G5 X stack up? Click here to read our PowerShot G5 X review DPReview Gear of the Year Part 2: Carey's choice - Fujifilm X-A2 In the second of our series looking at the gear we've enjoyed this year, DPR editor Carey Rose discusses his unexpected enjoyment of an entry-level ILC. The Fujifilm X-A2 isn't the highest specced nor the best built camera on the market but its keen pricing and oddly enthusiast-friendly feature set took Carey by surprise. Read about Carey's experiences with the Fujifilm X-A2 DPReview Gear of the Year Part 3: Sam's choice - Fujifilm Instax SP-1 Next up it was DPR staffer Sam Spencer's turn to talk us through a piece of kit that's stood out for him. He took the unusual decision to look not at a camera or lens but at a printer. The Instax SP-1 combines latest-generation Wi-Fi with the decidedly retro charms of instant film to provide a bridge from the digital to the analogue realm. Read Sam's perscpective on the Fujifilm Instax SP-1 The Zen of Photography Even working photographers have a style or a space that they love to shoot; where they can lose themselves in the moment and keep striving for 'the shot'. Street photographer Rinzi Ruiz and photojournalist Jonathan Alcorn share where they find their moments of zen one frame at a time. Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm F1.4 We got our hands on a prototype of the Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm F1.4 - a unique a fascinating fast lens for Sony's E mount. We're told that only 100 examples of the lens are going to be sold, so come and see what this ultra-rare piece of exotica is capable of. Click here to see our Mitakon Speedmaster 135mm F1.4 gallery What's coming up? There's still more to come, with more Gear of the Year articles, all the latest news and the chance to vote in our end-of-year polls to decide our Readers' Products of the Year.
