CP+ 2016: Nikon interview - 'the D500 is the D300S replacement that customers wanted' DPReview was in Yokohma, Japan last month for the annual CP+ photography show. As well as reporting from the show floor, we also made time to sit down with senior executives from several of the major manufacturers, including Nikon. We spoke to Nikon about the company's new DL-series compact cameras, the D500 and D5 and the future of the 1 System. For photographer and Resource Travel editor Michael Bonocore, a visit to Idaho's pristine wilderness and towering mountains was enough. Click here to see more of Michael Bonocore's pictures from Idaho Readers' Showcase: Steven James Martin DPR reader Steven James Martin took up photography while living in Asia. Originally from the UK, Martin suddenly found himself within easy traveling distance of locations some photographers can only dream of visiting, like Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. Harnessing the power of new technology, platforms and distribution channels opens up the potential to reach millions of people. But thriving partnerships are critical. No one can do everything well. Content creators and cause-driven organizations recognize the importance of compelling visual storytelling. Images have impact. They can ignite movements to preserve and protect our world. They may well save us as a species. This year’s Collaborations for Cause theme is “Innovations in Visual Storytelling for Impact.” It’s a rare opportunity for visual storytellers, writers, funders, non-profits, corporations and public agencies to join together as peers: to learn new strategies, tools and ideas to leverage the power of story and affect social change.
